On Tuesday (April 6) morning, various hat bazaars in the Bagerhat district have started sitting in the open field keeping in view the social distance. At noon, at Khanjahan Ali Dargar Hat, one of the big hats of Bagerhat Sadar Upazila, it was seen that there was no shop of any trader in the specified place.
More than two hundred traders are selling goods in the Ranbijaypur football ground in front of the Satgumbuj Union Parishad next to the designated place of the market.
With the relocation of the open market, relief has returned among buyers, sellers and locals. The district administration has informed that the process of taking more than one and a half hundred big hats of 9 Upazilas of the district to open space is going on till noon on Tuesday. Rakibul Islam, who was sitting in the open field for selling eggs at Khanjahan Ali Dargar Hat, said, “We have a permanent tent in the Hat.”
We buy and sell at certain places every market day. He has been asked to sit in the field due to a sudden corona infection. Sitting in the sun selling. I am getting peace of mind when I am in trouble. I have heard that corona infection can be prevented if the social distance can be ensured in this way.
Al-Amin, a vegetable seller, said, “I have to bring the goods in the morning and set up shop in the field. I am sitting in the field with everything.” Buyers are coming too. We are not selling without masks as directed by the administration. I am requesting only one person to come at a time.
Sirajul Islam, who came to the market, said, “We applaud the initiative taken by the administration to prevent corona infection.” It is true that you have to buy and sell in the sun, but there is not much crowd in the market. Anyone can avoid the crowd and finish their necessary purchase and sale if they want to.
Sardar Nasir Uddin, chairman of Bagerhat Sadar Upazila Parishad, said, “We have moved to the big bazaars of the public gatherings as the corona infection has increased so that everyone can walk at a distance.”
With the combined efforts of all, we are trying to maintain the social distance in the hat bazaars. Bagerhat Deputy Commissioner Anam Faizul Haque said all the upazila’s hat-bazaars have been asked to be shifted to open ground to ensure health rules and social distance.
All Upazila Nirbahi Officers have been instructed in this regard. The distribution of masks has been continued to increase monitoring and awareness to ensure social distance and hygiene in open-air markets.
